Competencies
Summary/Objective
The Senior Clinician provides clinical and wellness services to Chicago Housing Authority residents within the Quality of Life Services model. The Senior Clinician also provides clinical support, consultation and supervision to FamilyWorks clinicians, the Senior Clinician also functions as a Clinician, see Clinician job description.
Essential Functions
The Senior Clinician will provide clinical consultation to the clinical team and oversee clinical processes. The Senior Clinician will coordinate clinical responses and requests that are received from Chicago Housing Authority. The Senior Clinician is responsible for providing clinical and wellness services to Chicago Housing Authority clients that are referred to E&ES staff, Chicago Housing Authority, and Chicago Housing Authority partners. The Senior Clinician will conduct clinical and wellness assessments, identify clinical and wellness services that are needed, make appropriate referrals, and offer services available through E&ES staff with regards to clinical issues as needed.
- Directly supervises FamilyWorks Clinicians. Facilitates individual supervision, team supervision
- Conduct quarterly audits. Prepare clinical files for Chicago Housing Authority audit
- Review individual performance for goal achievement and related actions
- Responsible for ensuring that clinical services are being administered in accordance with contract requirements
- Caseload will consist of clients that request or are referred for clinical and wellness services.
- Outreach clients via various outreach methods (in-person, telephone, email/mail correspondence, etc.) to engage in services
- Conduct clinical and wellness assessments with clients that request services. Identify clinical and wellness services that are needed and connect client with services
- Develop treatment plans, provide individual and group counseling services, and advocacy when appropriate
- Provide emergency clinical services as needed, including crisis intervention and substance abuse assessment and referrals
- Clinicians respond to referrals for crisis counseling promptly and as determined appropriate by triage and supervisor consultation
- Provide assistance with seeking and enrolling in clinical and wellness benefits/programs
- Assist with developing partnerships with community services and supports
- Assist clients in application/appeal of SSI/SSDI benefits
- Link clients with clinical and wellness referrals to community service providers and E&ES partners, when appropriate
- Train E&ES staff on how to identify signs of substance abuse, child and vulnerable adult abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and mental health issues
- Act as a support to E&ES staff and Clinicians regarding clinical issues and provide guidance when crisis intervention is needed with a client
- Participate in Multidisciplinary Case Staffing’s conducted by the Program Managers.
- A Case Staffing is when staff that involved with the participant get together to help identify issues, suggest problem resolution strategies, and recommend service options.

Skills and Experience
- Experience in working with diverse, at-risk, and vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of community providers that offer clinical and wellness services
- Excellent leadership, team building, presentation, communication, and computer skills
- Possess a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable automobile
- Flexibility and willingness to conduct home visits
- Work well independently and as a team member
- Communication skills that lend themselves to building effective partnerships with Chicago Housing Authority and related service providers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a field role with a need to perform clerical and administrative duties in a physical office. Role requires extensive amount of mobility.
Hours of Work
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Position requires the ability work on evenings and weekends as needed.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Vice President and works in collaboration with E&ES staff. Will also maintain positive relationships with Chicago Housing Authority staff and partner agencies.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited College/University OR related experience
- Active LCSW license or LCPS license
